Here is what I just purchased:

The paint job was a cheapie, as the clear coat is peeling badly, but there is zero rust. I'm the second owner, and it has been living here in the desert it's whole life.

I'm in the middle of replacing the alternator, other than that everything seems to work.

Nice buy. Looks like someone freshly cleaned the valvecover - not a trace of oil weeping. Good luck with the alternator replacement. You'll find some neat stuff to do to your truck on here. What are your plans for it?

I see some Internationals hiding in the background of your pictures. Cool.

Hmmm! I logged on to add to this thread to get into the tech questions I had. I see the moderators move me to "The Pub".

:dunno:

I figured I would start with an introduction first. Guess not!

The Pub is the place for general discussion, introducing yourself, goofing off, etc.

If you'd like to start a build thread showing your progress, that goes under the "Your Project MJ's" section.

Any tech questions you have should each get their own thread in the MJ Tech section - that way, you're more likely to get answers from the folks who know. Not everyone gets a chance to browse through all the build threads, as there are a lot of them.

Welcome to the MJ madness! Hopefully your rig is as rust-free as it looks!

Thanks Guys! Plans for the truck! Hmm...

I have a LOT of 4wd trucks. Mostly internationals. I have a CJ for crawling. It is just fun to have projects around me.

To be honest, I paid $300 for the truck, is the only reason I bought it. It was purchased sight unseen, because I was thinking if the tub is a POS then I would pull the motor and tranny for my Scout 800 project. When I go to pick up the truck, I'm like Da**

I can't part this out. The PO said it hasn't run in three months due to an electical problem. I didn't even ask what the problem was because i thought I was just buying an engine. I didn't care. So when I go to charge the battery, I find it is shorted out and won't charge. I stick a spare in, and she fired right up. Runs super in fact. The alternator light is on, so I do a qick voltage check, and find the alt. is bad.

I fugure someone hooked up the jumper cables backwards and took out both. So I ordered a new alternator yesterday. I called the PO and asked if the gas guage worked cause it was pegged out on the full reading. Yup. works fine. The tank is full of fresh gas! :clapping:

I pressure washed the engine bay before I started to take off the alternator is why the cover is so clean. I hadn't cleaned up the interior yet so it looks dirty in the picture. While armoralling the interior, I noticed no tears in the viny floor covering. Someone took real good care of this truck. 4 brand new shock installed. 4 good tires. Neopream seat covers, so the seats are in great shape mostly. Not one dent in the bed, so might have had a liner at one time.

The paint is ok, except the clearcoat is peeling badly. I haven't made up my mind to keep it or not yet.

  • 9 months later...

I ended up selling this truck to a cousin. She needed a p/u, and i felt this one would suit her needs. She drove it all over for almost a year, and had to move out of state. She asked if I wanted to buy it back.

It's mine again.
