feerocknok
Is there no power to the light, or the light just won't turn on? Upon looking into mine, it seems that the contacts that hit at the different settings you can flip the light to, become corroded and just need to be cleaned. Corrosion was bad on both my lights. ChiefJosh
Mine were working last week, and now I've got nothing. No courtesy lamps, no lamps overhead, nothing. My gauge cluster still lights up and the fuses are good. Any ideas?
juan
check the switch @ the doors, mine were corroded - they provide the 12v ground to the lights. Check you have constant power to the lights by removing one and testing the cables with a test light - if you do then the problem is the ground switch. good luck. X2...my driverside doorswitch is touchy, and it causes intermittent "no interior light" problems. I've pulled it out once and cleaned it, but I need to do it again. randimal
I had to replace a fuse and then sand clean all the connections on the lights. After that they work fine. I added some nice floor lighting from an XJ as well. Plugs are already under the dash.
mjeff87
yup yup...the wiring connectors for the kickpanel lights are there, just add the lights with the little brackets courtesy of the junkyard. It's amazing how much those two little lights light up the interior! That was one of the best/cheapest junkyard mods I did. Jeff

mjeff87
I'll get some tonight after work and post them up for ya. FWIW, I grabbed an ashtray light too (even tho I don't use it for anything). Wiring for it is there too, as well as the hole to install it. It's a groovy blue colored bulb :D Jeff

Jeff So thats why when I tried putting mine in the connectors they didnt want to fit in there. So I opened up the connectors and jammed a bulb in each one. It works but there is nothing holding them to the dash. So there is a bracket that those lights go in?

mjeff87
Yeah, the bulb sockets snap into a little metal bracket that bolts to the metal strip under the lower dash cowl/piece/thingymagig..... I'll try to get a pic in about an hour, once I get home from work (before it gets dark out)
mjeff87
Here's some pics.....hope they help y'all. The conectors for mine were hidden waaaay up inside the dash, tucked out of the way. They are a 2 prong female connector with a "courtesy light" label wrapped around them. Pine air freshener is an aftermarket add-on :D Driver side Image Not Found Passenger side Image Not Found Bracket removed Image Not Found Ashtray light :chillin: Image Not Found
