what is the proper name for the porcelain block with two terminals that is located on the inner fenderwell of the driverside of my 92 mj, mine is split in half[lenghtwise] but I don't know what to ask for. thanks

thats a relay for something fuel related. I think Fuel pump relay

fuel pump ballast resistor.

you can jumper from one side of it to the other to make the truck run, the pump will ust be a bit louder.

its a resistor. i guess it makes the fuel pump run quieter.

since it's a resistor it cuts down on the voltage going to the pump which makes it run slower, thats why it's quiet. jump the resistor and the pump will get full volts and run at max rpm thats why it's louder. i bet the pump will wear out faster though running at max, but i'm sure it'll be ok to do that for a short period of time, like for example to make it back home.
