JeepNewb
Soo i'm getting ready to clean the inside of my gas tank to remove any corrosion and was wondering if anyone else has done this and what you used?? I've already dropped the tank, emptied it and am prepping it to be painted black along with the undercarriage where the tank bolts up and this is the last thing on the "to do" list before paint and reassembly. flint54
Depending on the actual condition, this may help: http://www.eastwood.com/gas-tank-sealer-kits.html If the tank is significantly corroded, like a lot of pitting that reduces the skin thickness (as opposed to just a surface condition), you may be better off to just get a new tank. Akula69
I used several marbles and a gallon of carb cleaner (In a can - not spray)....but mine was just dirty, I had no rust.
87Warrior
Check out the POR15 website. Even if you don't use their product, most of the tank cleaning and prep instructions would pertain to you.
dave92cherokee
Don't know what's in your area but I was quoted $25 to have my tank cleaned by a radiator shop. I would check into it as it might be worth it to save the headache of trying to get it cleaned and all the old gunk completely out of it.
