4x4 shifter help

So very close with getting it all done (4x4 convert and new motor) but I have one problem. The 4x4 shifter I can't figure out where this peace goes, or the bottom of the peace I mean. I know it bolts to the body but where? Here a pic:

I believe you have to pull out the carpet to put it on. There should be little dimple things were the screws go. I haven't personally done it though...

I'm sorry I for got to post the pic :doh: this is the peace I'm talking about. And I no longer have carpet :(

This is the best I can do, looks to be at a right angle to the rod (this is on a NP231 w/BA10/5, not sure if yours is different).

With the carpet out, aren’t there four dimples on the side of the transmission tunnel?
