jimoshel Posted July 13, 2011 Share Posted July 13, 2011 The bolt pattern where the extension housing and the transfer case bolt up is usually the same. Biggest difference is the output shaft. On some models you can just remove the ext housing and the TC will bolt up OK. On on others, it will be necessary to swap the tranny output shaft. If your talking converting a 2wd to 4wd, then a 2wd manual transmission has a longer mainshaft and tail housing, that is why it is not practical to convert a 2wd tranny to 4wd. 89comancheowner Posted July 13, 2011 Author Share Posted July 13, 2011 thank you for your answers looks like i need a 4wd trans the Cherokee that i am getting is 4wd and my truck is not but the trans is bad in the cherokee so I can rebuild mine with that output shaft?
