jeepthing07 Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 my lower control arm bolts are rusted to the steel tube in the rubber bushing so I'm going to have to cut them out. I know they are metric and will be expensive if i can even find a hardware store that sells metric bolts that big. Will a close fitting SAE bolt fit well good enough to use? I'm not even sure what diameter the metric bolt is so i thought i would ask in here. thanks
DirtyComanche Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Mmm... 9/16th Gr8 SAE will be close I think. Providing those bolts are 10.9s - not 12.9s. If they're 12.9s, go to junkyard and get 'new' ones. But, that's going by memory.
CWLONGSHOT Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Dirty, That sounds right to me. I bought the dealer bolts one time.....EXPENSIVE!!! Something like $5.00 each NUT than $12- 17 for each bolt!! I would go to a good hardware store and get Grade 8 stuff next time!!! CW
Oizarod115 Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 you might check the online stores.. rustys probably stocks them, (can't screw up that can you?) and rubicon express has them as well... unless their kits don't replace those? but that would be odd.
STROKERMJ Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 you could also look at http://www.fastenal.com/web/products/detail.ex?sku=0122048 the bolts will be M14x120 or 125mm grade 10.9. HTH STROKERMJ
comanchedude Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Yes You can use a (grade eight) 1/2" bolt that will work perfectly they can be bought very reasonable at tractor farm supply for less than $3.00 a pound
