Harley
1986, 2.5L, 2WD, AX-15 5 spd, AMC-20 4:10, metric ton,250,000 miles full guage cluster minus tach, bucket seats. From the looks of it and as far as I can tell its all original. I've read alot about the different packages they offered but have yet to find one with the same setup. My question.....Is it a rare setup also is it a good or bad one?? Let me know your thoughts
acfortier
Well, according to many others I've seen on here, basically you could order whatever you wanted on your Comanche from the dealer, regardless whether it was originally a Pioneer, Eliminator, etc. So your package could very well be unique to any others as some of those options may have been chosen by the original purchaser when they bought it brand new. jimoshel
The AX15 wasn't available until 1989, mid year. Either you have a AX5 or a PO did some swapping. Sounds like you've got a nice truck.

shelbyluvv
Post your vin number and we can tell you what package you have. The 86 was only available as a Base, X, or XLS. From the sounds of it you might have a XLS with a Metric ton option as well. If you can take pics of the transmission, rear diff cover and the leaf packs. We will be able to tell you what you are truly running under it. The AX-15 was not offered behind the 2.5 in 86.
Harley
I already know all that info from the VIN, the trans was a typo on my part
shelbyluvv
Buckets seats are not all that rare. The Metric Tonne package and the AMC 20 is a pretty uncommon as it was availble only in 86. The 2.5 had just a tad less power and torque than the 2.8 V6, which was also a 86 only thing. You have a unique little truck. Check out the registry and see if how your truck fits in the equation. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=30 If you would be willing please add it as well. If you choose not to can you PM me the last 6 digits (just the numbers) so I can see where yours fits in the production run. I am still trying to find out how early mine is. My last 6 are 003550 which makes her a pretty early truck.
