JOMJ87
No if your just doing u-joints don't even mess with the disco stuff or the inner axle just pull the outer one the same way you pulled the other side. Cole
Oizarod115
alright... so you can drive the truck with just taking the one peice of shaft out? for me u-joints is a two-time job... cause like i said, i can't do them myself and i gotta drive the truck.. but we have extra D30 shafts so i can take my inner shaft out and leave the stub in, drive around til the u-joints are swapped, then pull the stub out and put the other stub+axle in. but you're saying it won't hurt anythign to leave all the stuff from the disconnect-the diff in while driving right? JOMJ87
If you remove the outer shaft you can't mount a wheel to drive so no you can't. I didnt realize that is what you were asking the wheel mounts to the axle shaft as I explain before sorry for any confusion Hell I made be confused as well. Oizarod115
nah, on the d/30 you can pull the inner shaft and leave the outer stub shaft and drive. its a semi-floating axle if thats the correct term. but i didnt know if you had to remove ALL the inside peices including the disconnect sleever and innermost shaft in order to drive. pingpong
If you are going to change u-joints why not swap to a solid passenger side shaft and call it good. You can replace the seal in the outer portion of the housing and not have to do the inside one and have no issues. This is what I di on Pong before I bent my first d-30. As for the d-30 living with 35's. Before I upgraded to Yukon shafts I ate u-joints and stock shafts. I never went wheeling w/o at least 2 or 3 short shafts, abd a few rags and an outer. Just so I could get home. Once I upgraded i thought I was good, until I grenaded an Inner shaft at the splines

comancheman
yeah the deal fell through so after the holidays is no issue the only problem is that i have no way to get rid of the rest of the cherokee after the axle is gone. the jy will only take a rolling chassis
