Anyone Build their own tail lights

Anyone build their own tail lights? I've seen some on xj's that could work on mj's. I may take this project on as the only tail lights i've found are going for 75 bones or more.

Think he means custom built tails using some bent up steel and individual led lights or something like that.

It all depends on how fancy you want to get. Maybe you want to retain the factory size opening on the corners... maybe you want to just cap over them... maybe you want to weld the corners shut and start over?

 

The way I did it on my old pickup consisted of using 16 gauge diamond plate rolled around the corner in between the box and the tailgate.

 

 

This truck was nothing to write home about so they just got fastened to the outer bed skin with self tapping screws.

yea I know I was just posting this in reference to the fact that he could only find one set for $75, figured I would throw that one out and see if these factory ones could be any use to him.

 

I was planning on making metal boxes and put in oval STT LED lights in, I have the lights but now I think I want to do full rear bed guard wrapped around to house the LED lights.
