My parents let me borrow the money and I'm GETTING IT THIS SATURDAY!!!!!!! If i don't have to work that is.

Take someone along who knows what they are looking at. Or find a good member from here. That thing is highly modified, and has BIG BIG BIG potential to be a basket case. Big flag is the "custom suspension". Not many people have the smarts to pull off a functioning long arm suspension by themselves.

You sound very excited, and I suggest you take a step back and look at a few of them before you blow your load.

I'd start by looking at stock ones, rather than picking up someone else's problem.

My stepdad has a "built" 97 wrangler.

He had a Comanche before that, it was not huge lifted but fitted 35" tires.

I think hes coming with.

And another friend of mine is coming to, hes a Mitsubishi Master Tech.

I might drive down and test it out Sat and get it Sun.

Good. Even if you are experienced, its always good to bring a second (or third) set of eyes.

I notice I get blinders on when its something I really want, and end up overlooking things because I want it so bad. Nice to have a non-interested friend tag along and keep you on an even keel.

He send any pics of the arms and stuff? He better not have those things mounted to the stock crossmember.

Sure looks like he does. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that they aren't just welded to the stock crossmember and there is going to be strengthening going on. Remember that the stock control arm mounts aren't much but if he's used the crossmember he is putting pressure on a part that is already holding a transmission/transfercase and isn't really intended to take horizontal forces like a control arm.

Like Rob said, you shouldn't have to grind off any welds to work on something like this, ESPECIALLY for the price you are looking at paying for it.

Also, it looks like that front axle is still a disconnect version... as long as you are willing to mess around with that stuff I guess its OK...?

I'd much rather buy one that is in great shape, low miles and stock for $2000 than buy something that has been done up by someone else for the big price.

When you build it yourself, you know how it is done and what parts are used.

My guess is he priced it higher than his bottom line, which is probably around $4000. None the less, look at it as a stock 91. If it is rust free with no major dents and can cruise at 65mph with out concern I'd venture to say it is worth $3-5K. From there just metally calculate how much $$$ it will take to replace/fix anything you don't like and figure out how much you initially want to invest in the truck.

I overpaid for my 92 because I was overcome with excitement and missed the holes in the rockers, cab corners, and floors.

I know what you mean about buying stock and modding it yourself, I'm just excited because it looks to be in nice condition and its only 1 hr away.

Ive learned from my mistakes and wanted to kick myself for what I did or didn't do at that time. Like I paid way too much for my Mitsu. Eclipse and Ill never forgive my self for it. Ridicules amount

And with this jeep, I'm not buying it then looking for rust and parts fall off. I do research 24/7 on cars i want to buy and own.

I have owned a MJ before and know the headaches they serve, so I know what I'm looking for.

Thats the problem for 4G63 engines that are 7 bolt.

From 1990- 1993? I think, they are 6 bolt blocks. No crank walk for 6 bolts, thats why erbody does the 6 bolt swap. All it is is shims really.

But I don't have the 4g63 in my Eclipse, I have the 420A its the NA engine. All I can say about the 420a engine is that they are great on gas.

You need to SLOW DOWN big time on the truck. Your mom and dad have to give you the money to buy it. Who is going to pay for all the stuff you want to do with the truck? Let's see - DADDY.

Young man, Listen to the folks here: They are telling you this is a BAD choice. Most of these guys have made a bad purchase and know one when they see it.

There are many Comanche's out there. Most could be better choices.

Sorry to rain on your party.

I might not even buy this truck after seeing the bigger pics he sent me. But I'm still going to look at it and test drive it Sunday.

I graduated from collage last year and I have a great job that has a great paycheck, only reason I borrowed the money is because I just paid all my collage loans off until April and had to borrow $1000. Ill have them payed back by next paycheck and might have a replacement for that homemade lift.

I am listening to everybody on here, they are the ones that are making me think about this but I am still going to look at it.
