wannabeMJ Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I've change everything to make it start the starter the relay the wires the ignition switch the cpu fuze links are good the starter make noise like the selenoid engages but won't crank the engine plz I need ideas or sugestions
Jay Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I know this is gonna sound stupid, but have you had the battery tested? I mean from a parts store? It could be that your battery is worn down, or even possible that it doesn't have enough cold cranking amps to turn the motor over. Could even have bad battery cables or cable ends. If their not tight on the battery it won't start. Might also be that the new starter is bad. Test it off the truck and see if its working properly. This is just my first thought. I've had these things happen to me.
ridergoatee Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 :agree: And double check all ground connections. They can be deceiving!
maddzz1 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Some people run an extra ground from the battery to the fender.
comanche12 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 try jump the battery first before do anything with battery
Eagle Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Are you sure the engine isn't seized? Pull the spark plugs and see if you can turn the engine by hand with a breaker bar on the nut at the front of the crankshaft.
wannabeMJ Posted February 3, 2011 Author Posted February 3, 2011 found it it seems that my starter is not grounding properly when we retested on the bench we had to ground the selenoid body with the ground prong if not the selenoid would push the gear out but wouldn't turn the starter thanks for the answers that will be one for the years to come
ridergoatee Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Deceiving grounds contribute to a lot of undue headaches!! :fs1: Glad u found the culprit! :clapping:
wannabeMJ Posted February 3, 2011 Author Posted February 3, 2011 Ill post a pic later on, on what the actual probleme is and explain it
Jay Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I Hate electrical problems, but it seems to be the culprit alot. Its usually a good idea to check wiring first. Plus its a cheap fix, my favorite kind
wannabeMJ Posted February 5, 2011 Author Posted February 5, 2011 the damn starter would not stop giving me probs so I went and bought a new one fired right up so the prob wasn't the electrical but the starter itself thanks all for the replys Dominic
ridergoatee Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.......thought starters were electrical! :rotf: Glad u got it runnin'.
