The last two look awfully similar to what attaches to the air conditioning compressor. Is your air conditioning working?

AC works. The truck is very hard to start, and when it does it runs very rough, I have to give it gas or it dies. If I spray starting fluid into the intake it runs like a champ. I have replaced:

Throttle position sensor

Idle speed motor

Knock sensor

Spark plugs, wires, distributor and cap

Fuel pump and fuel filter

Battery

The symptoms you mention make me think you got a dud idle air controller or you have a small vacuum leak.

The one in the first pic may be for the under hood light. Looks kinda like the wire in mine.

did you clean your throttle body when you replaced all that stuff?

that and like someoen said a vacuum leak somewhere

It is a 1989 4.0 base model.

In the 3rd pick you see those yellow connectors, if I connect those to a computer would it be able to tell me anything, or was a 1989 too early?

The first wire is for the under hood light option. The second and third wires look like they should power the shift light. Will they plug together?

First one is the positive lead under hood light.

Second one is the cruise control subharness (provides pulse rate).

The third is one I haven't seen except on the sub-harness that comes up from the transmission (not AW4). I have never seen a corresponding connector for it.
