project88mj Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 how do i hook up a tach on to my 88 mj?
87manche Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 get a gauge cluster from the junkyard that has the full package. That's the easiest way. If you go aftermarket then you'll tap into the signal wire that comes from the ICM.
Pete M Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 I added an aftermarket tach to my 88 years ago. It was a simple setup. I think it was just a power, ground, and feed to the coil. The instructions came with the tach.
Pete M Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Don't remember. Where ever the instructions said to. :dunno:
Druville Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 the tach wire goes to the negative lead on the coil. there are two plugs into the coil on my jeep, one with three wires and one with a single wire. i tapped into the plug with one, thin yellow wire. works like a charm wired it up less than a week ago and seems to be perfect.
project88mj Posted December 16, 2006 Author Posted December 16, 2006 any pics? cause that would help a lot
512tr Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Here’s the common wiring for an aftermarket tach, I will assume you should connect the meter’s tach signal wire, to the tach out signal pin (pin C ) at the coil /ignition module
DansGreyMj Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 sorry to get off topic but what are the things with the yellow caps on them for
