radiator overflow bottle

Can i use a newer style overflow bottle instead of the big bulky one. I am converting over to the newer style winshield washer tank inside fender and the factory overflow bottle is in the way. Its a 1990 2.5. thanks

Unless you convert the entire system to an open Cooling system i believe your stuck with that bottle...

All 2.5s have an open cooling system.

So the bottle is different. My 98 with 4.0 has a cap on radiator and overflow bottle. Looks like same set up as the 2.5. I am confused on what a open and closed system is then.thanks

Closed system utilizes a pressure bottle with a none capped radiator.

Closed system was only on 87-90 4.0s.
