front end wobble

Recommended Posts

i was out climbing a few hills, nothing major, and when i would get to the top id turn drivers side and the tire would shake and it seemed like the four wheel didnt want to do right. as in not pulling maybe. as soon as id let off the wheel a little it would be fine and everything would work right but any futher and nothing. it also creeks really bad turning far drivers side. idk, any ideas as to what it could be? also it was in 4-low if that matters. thanks

it's not rocket science. :D give yourself a little credit.

jack up that corner of the truck and then turn the tire by hand (in 2wd). listen for noises and see if you can figure out where they are coming from. Then turn the steering wheel all the way and rotate the tire again. if you still don't hear anything, then pull off the tire and repeat. Also while you're there, shake the tire and see if it wobbles at all. then reach in and shake the axle shaft and see if there's any slop in the u-joint.

i did what you told me and the axle/u joint are snug. i can't figure it out as to where the noise is coming from. ill take a quick vid in a second and post it up. could it be the ball joint creeking? idk i might just drive it too and shoot video out the window to let you see what it does about the pulling bit. haha i mean i just don't know

no ideas about whats causing the noise. anyone?

also i went and drove around checking out the front tire while turning (in 4low) and its like something is snagging the wheel at a certian spot making it not want to spin but the rear just keeps pushing so it goes. idk. the kid i bought it from said a lot was @#$%ed up with the 4wd in the front but he had it "fixed". guess not all of it huh.
