Comanche County
I'm posting this from my new iPhone 4. Because...I was messing with the tie rod and drag link after getting it aligned trying to adjust the steering wheel straight and I placed my lucky Oakley ballistic protective sunglasses (which survived a year of patrols in Iraq) and my Palm Treo Pro smart phone on the front bumper. Of course I tore out on the highway to see if I had the steering wheel straight and left them on the bumper. The next morning I found my lucky sunglasses on the bumper and the remaining pieces of my smart phone scattered on the shoulder of the highway at my turn around point. So I got me a brand new phone now, but lost two years worth of saved phone numbers. Crap! I should have synched it with laptop like I kept telling myself but kept putting it off. Anyways, the first app I put on the new iPhone is called "mountain crawler". It's got a LWB MJ in Wagoneer style trim that you can jump and flip like that flash game posted a while back. A must have app for MJ lovers.
Automan2164
Android user here. HTC EVO 4G. Love the phone, but no MJ game for me. :( NOTE TO ANDROID USERS!!! FEAR THE ANDROID 2.2 FROYO! I just updated... it mega sucks. Audio on Pandora sounds muffled, text's are jazzed up, phone sucks, and my voicemail is jacked up. Hold out as long as you can. Rob L. gogetemturbo
I absolutely love my iPhone 4. I've had it a little over a month now. It's my first Apple product. I can't stand their computers (not sure why) but love the phones. I am bummed! I can't find the mountain crawler game!
Comanche County
Just use the search term "jeep" at the iPhone app store link.
gogetemturbo
Ah ha there it is. It's now called "alpine crawler". Thanks!
terrawombat
Yea, there are a couple posts on here with some screenshots :D Enjoy your new iPhone, I don't know if I can ever get rid of mine now and go back to the 'normal' phones. I'm still on the 3GS and will likely stay there until I'm eligible for an upgrade. The iPhone 4 looks pretty cool, but it doesn't do anything anything more than my current one to warrant the switch. My favorite feature (although it is a jailbroken feature) is being able to get internet access on my netbook anywhere 3G is available via tethering. All of the client sites I visit are strictly LAN networks because of the potential for Wifi to interfere with their communication devices in the plant. You also need to have your MAC address registered on the network to get on and there aren't many ethernet jacks to hook your PC up to.
gogetemturbo
I almost got the 3GS a little while ago, because I agree, the 4 doesn't do much more than the 3GS. But I decided to hold out, since the 4 was so close to coming out. The battery is the biggest improvement, and good lord is it fast. Ten fold faster than my wifes 3g (she's VERY jealous, like I was when she originally got hers awhile ago!) and IMO still fast enough over the 3GS to make it worth while. The forward facing camera is kinda fun, my daughter loves it because she can watch herself on it while I take a picture of her. Beyond that, it's basically the same. THough I do like the way it looks over the older style.

Comanche County
Thanks for the correction,,,I meant "Alpine" crawler, sorry bout that... Huh? I'm a sort of a :dunce: on iPhone stuff, this is my first Apple product. I was a dedicated Palm user for many years, had a 600, a 750, then the Pro. I got the Treo Pro because of the Microsoft Mobile software so I could view/amend Microsoft Office documents and ppts. But it would stall and hang up when using office and would stop functioning when I'd get on the web with it. It got to where I had to do a soft reset every other day. Sorta like an old Windows 98/95 PC. This iPhone 4 seems like its generations ahead in user interface and system stability. Its so much faster that there's no comparison. I especially like the digital compass and how the screen automatically switches from portrait to landscape view when you tilt it. It must have a little gyro or something like that in it. I also like how it detects available wifi networks and saves battery time. So far the battery hasn't gone below 75% even after not charging for a day and a half. I'm thinking of switching from PC to Mac now! What is a MAC address you're referring to?
terrawombat
I can see why there may be confusion considering we're talking about Apple phones ;) A MAC (Media Access Control) address is an identifier for any network adapter, whether it be a Wifi card on a laptop, wired ethernet card in a desktop PC or Mac (Apple), to the Wifi chip in your new iPhone. Think of it like a social security number for network cards. The industrial plants I go to for my job require that your MAC address be registered on their network in order for you to use it. So, think of them like the U.S. immigration services and think of me like the illegal Mexican that just crossed into your state :D So, what I can do with my iPhone is use the 3G service I pay monthly for and transmit it to my laptop so that I can have internet access. gogetemturbo
my phone makes phone calls. I remember that being a major concern when the iPhones first came out. That they were so much like a computer that they didn't work well as phones. I can never have a regular phone again. Smart phones have changed my life. Stupid technology! I am even posting this from my phone and it's faster than my work computer! Though that isn't saying much...
terrawombat
my phone makes phone calls. Yea, the old timers at my work (no offense, Pete!) tell me that same thing all the time. I'm a techie geek and if there is one thing I cannot stand about some of the technology today it's that they cannot combine everything into one, compact device. My phone makes calls, too, but it also is a fully functioning GPS with turn-by-turn navigation, a wifi hotspot for when I, or anyone of my friend around me, need it. It'll take some pretty decent photos and record video. I could use it as my computer if I really needed to. Now, I haven't been able to get rid of my digital camera yet, but my old, clunky portable GPS is long gone. My old MP3 player got thrown in the trash and my personal laptop sees very little use. I'm excited for the future when cell phones will be able to be the ONLY device you need. I hate carrying around more than I need to and having 10 different AC chargers. I like separating functions out into multiple devices. Sure it means I have to carry more, but it also means that if I lose or break one, I still have the other functions. Meh - I'll take that chance. I outgrew my last pair of cargo pants in middle school - I need to consolidate. It also has a lot to do with me being a motorcyclist...I always pack light and take only what I need. If I can take a single device with multiple functions, then I've won 8)

terrawombat
A co-worker of mine just got an HTC phone with the Android operating system and I messed with it for a good hour or so trying to get a feel for it. I've used the Android OS with my roommates Motorola Droid a number of times and I just can't get used to it. It feels "clunky" and unresponsive at times. I'm not sure how the HTC HD2 does, but the Motorola Droid is a JOKE when you take it out in the sunlight. Seriously, did the designers of that screen expect their users to live in dark caves while they used their phones?

kastein
I've got a tmobile G1 that I bought for 90 bucks on NAXJA classifieds. Does great except for a few infuriating user interface issues. Also have a blackberry 7105 that has been assaulted in nearly every way a mobile phone should not be assaulted... it has continued to work and is my backup phone for when I'm afraid I will be doing something that might damage my nice phone. Seriously, it's been saturated with water, dropped from a height of 10-15 feet multiple times, thrown across rooms, stood on, accidentally drowned with brake fluid / water / transmission fluid / mud / brake cleaner (all of the above mixed together, tipped over a drain pan), sat on while sliding down a fiberglass track at 20mph (alpine slides, it fell out of my pocket and now looks like I took a belt sander to it), and most recently I tripped and slid down a railroad embankment of heavy gravel on top of it, which smashed about a quarter of the case off and cracked the plastic over the screen. The power button literally shattered and fell off the PCB after that last one, I have to turn it back on using the edge of a knife to short out what's left of the switch. It still works... Android is definitely a bit slow and clunky if you do the wrong thing. I find the auto zoom in the web browser to be the most infuriating feature, it tends to zoom in on the wrong spot while I'm typing in a text entry box, leaving me typing blind, and cursor control is so sluggish it's nearly unusable. Oh and don't get me started on the blasted "synch address book from gmail" thing that basically nukes any contact you add while out of range of the cell network :fs1: at least that is what it was doing a few days ago.
