i hear this alot but i gotta ask

please do not think that the rocky road half-kit is going to work without more parts. raising an MJ that high up on stock arms causes all sorts of havoc with your steering and suspension geometry. I hate them for calling that a "kit".

So by won't work your telling me that my truck didnt get me back in forth to work everyday for over a year? :hmm:

If you put on the RRO lift and nothing else your truck will drive down the road.

the kit will work right out of the box but it will work better with more parts, all of which RRO also sells or you could do what i did and source the rest elsewhere.

I'm not saying the RRO lift is that great but its better then its given credit for. IMO if you took the basic kit and added the optional stuff you would have a decent lift.

I've seen guys have all sorts of headaches from just a 3" lift. Please understand that you are in the minority if you jacked it up 5" on stock arms and everything worked fine. By the way, what was your caster at?

It's not a kit, it's a half-kit. they are the ONLY ones advertising such a package. Even Rustys has control arms.

Honestly I didnt measure castor, I put the kit on and it worked fine. i bought it with the intentions of getting adj arms and doing the rest then stuff happened and i wasnt able to do it for over a year.

My point isnt that its right, my point is that it worked.

my XJ is currently at 3" with nothing more then springs and blocks and other then some axle wrap it works fine, and a coworker ran his ZJ at 5" for about a year on stock arms with no issues. I just havent ran into the problems people talk about.

In my opinion there isnt really a best "kit". the best way is to do your home work and learn about your jeep then build your own kit tailored to suit you. I would also recommend doing as much of your own work as you can.

I started with an RRO kit but it changes as my jeep evolves, when i bought the RRO kit i knew little about jeeps but now i am building most of my own parts.

I liked the RRO kit because it had just enough parts to lift the truck leaving my options open to modify things as i went making it a good starting point for me.

I ran the kit the way it came for over a year,It worked ok but wasn't right. 31s worked fine on it but when i put on the 33s i had to do some trimming due to the stock control arms being too short.

I ended up adding RC adj control arms,RC 6.5" coils, sway bar disconnects, longer brake lines, and i made my own control arm drop brackets.

got any pictures of your drop brackets?

drop brackets are exactly what they sound like. they are brackets that drop down the mounting points of your control arms so that the arms are closer to parallel to the ground. the steeper the control arm angle, the harsher your ride will be. there are several companies that sell them.
