Justin_k Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Picking up a 4.0 AX15 2wd SWB comanche. I'm putting it to 4x4. (AX15, NP231) What rear driveshaft can I use to make this setup work? I have 2 cherokees (One with an AX15/231. Another with a AW4é242 combo) Would either of these shafts fit Thanks Justin
Pete M Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 swb Comanches have a foot more wheelbase than an XJ and so the XJ rear shafts will be a foot too short. When i converted to 4wd, I just had my rear shaft cut down to size.
mvusse Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 A 2wd AW4 Cherokee rear shaft measures 40.5" from center of u-joint to center of u-joint. What length would a 4wd swb MJ need?
Pete M Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 the shortest stock MJ rear shaft would be 41.25" long (4x4/swb/4.0/aw4/d-44)

MjPioneer Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Obvious answer....Xj Shaft, long travel yoke..
