beaterheep Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 picked up an 88 manche, 4.0 5spd longbed, looking to do soa with an 8.25 axle(probably just use the d35 for now) wanted to know if the 8.25 would bolt in or if i need to move the spring perches? thanks!!
Eagle Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 You have to move the perches. The center-to-center distance for the XJ is different from the MJ.
beaterheep Posted August 10, 2010 Author Posted August 10, 2010 that sucks, was hoping itd be a simple bolt in. oh well, new perches are 15 bucks shipped from summit racing, now i just need to find an 8.25 for cheap...
Eagle Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 You can re-use the original perches. The welds are only along the outside, and easy to grind off.

Pete M Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 enough to warrant moving the perches. if you force the leafs to match the XJ axle, you'll destroy the bushings in the leafs. It's been done.
