pressure wash in engine bay?

Recommended Posts

So just want to ask for opinions, I have a 5HP pressure washer at work and was thinking about turning it loose on my engine. Dirty little 4.0L

Obviously I want to spare the electronics, but do you guys think it may not be a good idea?

Any parts I should keep the water blast away from?

I will need to drive it home after work.

Better safe than sorry.

Well I did it.

Sprayed everything with Castrol Super Clean.

Let it sit for about 20 minutes then sprayed it.

It looks OK for a 20 year old engine; and it still starts.

I then sprayed it with Corrosion Block marine spray, that should help it get dirty fast.

So if I did something really bad and stupid, I don't know yet.

And since I'm still at work, I don't have any pics.

some guys have had no trouble, others have fried sensors. Not sure if one group was lucky, or the other group was unlucky.

All I can off is:

-Don't let water get anywhere near the throttle body sensors or distributor cap.

-And let the truck dry out completely before trying to start it.
