deziped
A 2400 mile sprint from So Oregon to Memphis only revealed one MJ and it was in what appeared to be a farmers JY along I-84 in Idaho. Drove 800 miles on 1st day and took 4 hour break in Odgen, UT. Last 1600 completed in one long run (6:00 AM Wed to 900 AM Thur) with only a planned one hour stop outside KC, and probally about an hours worth of fast food and p--- stops. Highest speed achieved accidentally was 94 mph. But made it 2 hours early for appointment. Have been sleeping walking for 2 days. Last time I will attempt a quick trip like that again. MJRemi
That's a long stretch. I drove a non-stop (except for gas) from Portland, OR to San Diego once and I was wiped out. You're lucky to have the 4.0 . In my 2.5 anything above 75mph feels like re-entering the atmosphere in a space shuttle.

Eagle
I did Connecticut to Taos, NM in 2-1/2 days once. Don't recall how far that is ... 2100 miles? I wasn't totally wiped out when I arrived, but I wasn't about to go square dancing that evening, either.
mvusse
Back in my younger days we attempted Kenora, Ontario to London, Ontario straight through. 1300 miles, 25 hours driving time, crossing the border at International Falls/Fort Francis, going through Wisconsin and the U.P., then cross again at Port Huron/Sarnia. Plans changed when the front drive shaft broke, with one end beating the oil pump to a pulp and the other end knocking 100 holes in the transmission pan. I did drive 900 miles to Daytona Beach pretty much straight through in 17 hours.

deziped
Well that 5k mile trip is over. Got home this afternoon, return trip took 4 days at a much more pleasurable pace on I-40 and up I-5 to S Oregon. Warmed up to 103 across W AZ & the Mojave on in to Barstow. But didn't get uncomfortably hot. Only thing exciting on the trip was at Stockton when I pulled into a McD's at 10 PM and the wife rolled her window down for a little fresh air & was pounced on by a pro who wanted to know if she'd like a lil company for the night. I think if she'd had a gun it would have been lights out for the creepy thing. Couldn't tell what gender it was. Turned out the dark side of the joint was crawling withem. So I parked on the opposite side with more light and went in to grab a coffee. What a s--- hole that place was. There were as many inside as out. It was beyond filthy in the place and I decided that the coffee even if boiling was probally contaminated with bacteria. Walked away from that one. I'm going to email my 2c's worth to McD's corporate office, maybe they'll close the dump. Oops- forgot to mention I had a blow-out just out of Flagstaff. Was switching lanes when one of those little metal bumps they use as lane dividers was standing on end and punctured the side of my rear left tire. Ripped about a 3 inch hole in it. About 20 minutes and I was back on the road.
