I've always liked the chase in The Seven Ups:

No crashes with enormous fireballs, no cars flying off ramps disguised as fruit stands, no CGI, just 10 minutes of pretty realistic high speed chasing in NYC and out into the country.

That was a great chase scene reminded me of the work of William Friedkin in "the French Connection", and "To Live and Die in LA". Going the wrong way near the Henry Ford Bridge between Long Beach and LA was incredible. :clapping:

A chase scene between a gutless Road Barge and a gutless Pontiac Ventura? Gotta remember, those were the years when Detroit took care of air pollution by lowering the compression rate on engines to the point they were a gutless piece of crap that spewed out raw gas on the ground instead of spent gas in the air. Notice in the sound footage haw sssslllllooowwww the engine gets going in the bad guys road barge! Probably an engine pushing 400 cid but with only 150 hp! Neither one of them could get enough mph up to make for a decent chase scene until they had about five miles to get from 40 to 70 although we had the sound of a 4 barrel carb sucking in lots of air and gas that ended up out the tail pipe and on the ground. Chase scene? Nope!

NOW, a 440 and a 390 pushing over 300 hp each in Bullitt! Better, man! Even the ford and chevy with maybe 1/2 to 2/3 the cid in Thunder Road did better than those in Seven-ups! Now there is a cool sound! Ford Flathead with Offenhauser heads and tripower and a cam and headers. Ohhhhhh!

I feel I need to answer this. I own the dvd's Gone in 60 Seconds, Bullit, and if I recall, I have the original Gone in 60. They are all very good. My personal favorite is any episode of an old TV show from the '70s called "The Rockford Files". The chase scenes were not long or dramtic. He never drove up an auto carrier and jumped 5 cars or anything like that.

It was nothing flamboyant but it was authentic. Jim Garner drove most of his own stunts. I saw on a news show how easy it was for him to do a reverse 180. He could really drive. He gave the credit to the car in most cases.

Yep James Garner, The Rockford Files. I'll bet Eagle sits around in his shorts watching it on dvd all the time.
