dellstopjeep
what needs to be done to do the swap or will it all bolt up. to make the rear work do you just have to use xj leaves. my comanche is a 87 long bed.
Oizarod115
there is a difference in the spring perch widths. it CAN be bolted straight to your leaves but its definately NOT the kosher way to do it. though it has been done. XJ leaves are to short for the MJ best way to do it is to chop the perches off and re-weld new ones wherever you want them... SOA SUA wherever. EDIT: front axle is a direct bolt in. CWLONGSHOT
To clarify, The front of a ZJ, XJ, TJ, & MJ are interchangeable was far as the control arms and related bracketry. So any of these are a bolt in for ya. There are some other differences, like rotors, hubs and steering linkage, but they will bolt right up no problem!! The rear is different and NOT a direct bolt in. First off, XJ's are SOA while MJ's are SUA. As Oizarod mentioned, the leafs themselves are a different legnth so that won't work at all. You need a set new of spring perches. The width's are different. XJ leafs are mounted outbound of the "frame", while MJ's are directly UNDER it. Just grind/torch off the factory perches and re-weld on the new ones in the correct locations. :chillin: CW
dellstopjeep
SO DEFINTILY HAVE TO DO SOME WELDING...... ONE QUESTION WHILE I STILL HAVE YOUR ATTENTION. WITH THE LONG BED AFTER I DO A SOA LIFT HOW MUCH HIGHER CAN I GO TILL SYE AND LONGER DRIVESHAFT IS NECESSARY.
CWLONGSHOT
I stayed SUA but am sitting at about 7" of lift and do NOT have a sye or any problems. I also still have the factory DS. An SYE also adds agreat deal of stregnth to the 231 Tcase. CW
JOMJ87
I'm at 7.5 or more in the rear with SOA in my short bed and only had to lengthen my DS alittle but no SYE and i don't see any use for it. Had 0 issues with it pulling out or cramming in to far. With a Long Box there may be a difference though. Cole
87manche
with a lwb the rear ds is even loner and at a shallower angle. It's not a big issue.
Oizarod115
if you had vibe issues with your lift (which probably won't happen) and would most likely be a bad CV joint... you could always try a t-case drop before SYE.
dellstopjeep
DEFINTILY GOOD MONEY SAVING NEWS TO HEAR. ALSO, AND FINAL QUESTION HOPEFULLY FOR A WHILE, I HATE MY BENCH SEAT, SIT WAY TOI CLOSE TO THE WHEEL. feerocknok
Where are you located? There's a set in my JY, but seats would cost quite a bit to ship a long way. Also, they pop up on the Classifieds here occasionally, so keep an eye open.

If so.... no. Not often. Yeah, we don't generally care about the search button. Pete kinda setup the site as the best one ever, and we all get along. It's weird.
