dunl
There's a guy nearby with an ad stating that he has import bucket seats starting at $25....is there some real nice set of import seats that would be a nice fit for a Comanche? style-wise and comfort wise...I know I'll have to fab EVERYTHING for them to physically fit

That's pretty much your answer, any seats that you can physically fit and mount up in the cab is doable. If there was an easy common swap, besides XJ buckets I'm sure that would be a topic more often. Like the 8.8 swap from an Explorer. FWIW, I did see a thread where someone put a Dakota bench with fold down armrest in their MJ. looked pretty good. As far as the fab went, if you can do some minor fab work then these might work for you. Imports only? Money talks.......
ParadiseMJ
I have not seen it in person, but I too have seen pics of Dakota 40-20-40 seats in both an MJ and an XJ. Must be something in common as far as mounting go. The 40-20-40 seats have a storage area under the optional uh...er...girl seat. Sorry ladies. Is that a "rhymes with witch"-seat? :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: Just had to say that as I read it in a S.King book the other day. "The Dome"
El Comanche
Audi and VW have nice comfortable seats. I had a Passat with cloth seats heated on both bum and back. Great in winter. On high heat it would keep pizza warm. Gord
Boilermaker
i remember seeing someone over at NAXJA put Prelude seats in an XJ. MKII toyota Supras ('82-'86) are light, fold forward and some come with manual adjustable wings and lumbar pumps. Since the seats are a fairly popular upgrade in some circles, there's also plenty of off the shelf reupholstering options. Some later Supras had 6 way power seats with power lumbar and wings. dunl
Thanks guys. I was looking more for the different types of seats, rather than anything fab-specific.
88 Beast
A couple of years back I installed buckets from an early 2000's Ford Escort wagon ( I think ). Perfect gray cloth and adjustable headrests and folding backs. Lots of work, but hey, put your mind to something and it'll get done.
Darren
A local guy here put Prelude seats in his MJ. Turned out good and they were very supportive and comfy too.
