sinkrun
Does anyone know what years will interchange with my 89MJ? The wipers on my xj`s are much faster and smoother than the MJ and I need to do the bushings and was thinking I should either do a upgrade or just buy a new motor also. Wildman
Off the top of my head, I'm going to say that your good up to '90, after that '91+, Chrysler went to the negative ground, which changed all the electrics in the Jeeps. If you change out the bushings, you will see a major improvement. With the worn out bushings, alot of slop is in the wiper arms, and kind of makes the wipers work really slow. Do you put this all back together, and then decide you need a new motor :dunno: I did one with the new bushings, and then decided that the motor needed replacing, so I opp'ed out for a used motor I had on the parts shelf, it did help some, so that's your call :hmm:

Geonovast
As opposed to a positive ground? I'm fairly certain the wiper motor itself is the same.
Pete M
if your wires are corroded, cleaning up the connections of even swapping in new wires can make a huge difference too. Assuming the bushings aren't shot of course.
sinkrun
Did not take it apart yet, I am sure bushings are needed the wipers are going down past the window about 2". I will rebush it first and check the wires for corrosion as the motors are not cheap and the yards around here want darn near new prices.

HOrnbrod
The 5-pin connector changed in 92, but the wiper motor itself is the same 84-01. Neg ground. You can wire on the old-style connector to the new motor, and vice-versa by matching wire function, not the color codes.
