bigalpha Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Someone on CL has listed a fuel pump assembly "for88-92 wrangler or comanche". I was just curious if they are indeed interchangeable.
jimoshel Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Physically they are the same. What is more important is the engine they are meant for. The pressure for the 2.5 and 4.0 is different. 30psi and 40psi.

redneck23ms Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 yj's didn't come with the 4.0 until 91 or 92. before then they had a carbed 4.2 so most likely that is a 2.5 pump if it came out of an early yj
bigalpha Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 Are the pumps marked with a number or something? How would I know by holding it in my hands whether or not it'll work for the 4.0?
Jeepman Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 87-90 2.5L use a smaller pump because of the TBI... 91-95 YJ's use the same pump regadless of the Engine size... As for an MJ 4.0L they use the same pump... The sender is different for the MJ so 86-90 or 91-92 if you use the oposite the gauge will be backwards (empty=full) As for numbers or markings I will have to see if I can dig one up and see if there is anything on them but I do not remember seeing anything...
