Hello All, I joined up yesterday. Yesterday I owned zero MJ's, today I own two. :dunno:

My little brother has an XJ 2.5/5spd/2wd that we've done minor work to.

Just thought I'd say hey :wavey:

Since I am breaking the Universal Rule #1 of internet forums (no pics), I should probably throw out a little info

#1 1989 Red/Silver MJ 4.0/5spd/4wd/lwb, broken rear leaf, rusted R brake line, roof damage, used to belong to a member here, has comancheclub.com vinyl and a few magnets. Probably had black wagon wheels and a roll bar, but they were "stolen" while owned by the guy I bought it from. I believe the previous owners last name was Henry from Sevier County if that sounds familiar to anyone.

#2 1988 Black/Silver MJ 4.0/5spd/4wd/lwb Metric/Big Ton, wrecked on the RF, might have gotten the block, showered the bay in battery acid. It does have a rather nice Stahl utility bed, shame it's about 6" wider than the cab with a huge rear overhang, the capacity would be nice for a light trail/camping rig. I'll probably end up parting it out after I pull the springs, roof, possibly the bed, and maybe a few other small items.

The site has quite a bit of info, I've enjoyed having a look around and learning about the MJ, Thanks

Sorry I am in Knoxville TN, change my location.

And how I got two in one day, Found the first one on Craigslist, while I was towing it back to my warehouse, I spotted the second one, wrecked in a empty field. Stopped back by and dug out the registration, Located the owner and arranged the deal over the phone. jamminz.gif

I've needed a smaller truck and liked my brothers XJ so I started looking for one, when it rains it pours, I guess.

The MJ bug has bit you

I'm sure the next time you stop in, you'll have 5-6 more MJ's :D

Anywho........Nice score

Getting the first one that needs repair is one thing, getting the parts donor on the same day, that's just plane Great Luck

Welcome to the CC and the madness :wavey:

You'll find tons of info around here to get your MJ fixed up and on the road in no time :brows:

Make sure you get the Dana 44 rear axle from the big ton too before you let it go, or swap it with your other one.... that axle is the gold standard for rear ends for our trucks!

Thanks for the heads up, I do appreciate it. Anyone want to guess how many PM's I have about it.... :rotf:

I probably should mention that until recently I worked as a VW/Audi Tech, ASE Master Cert, etc. I used to have a Suburban on 38's D44/14bFF. Due to some medical issues I have been temporarily forced into a semi-retirement, so now I finally have a little time for myself :clapping:

When I repair the rear springs on the red truck, I will be going SOA w/corresponding front lift , WJ arms, nondisco shafts w/new later u-joints, and 33/34's with a little clearance/rust removal. I need to fab up some bumpers as well.

Not to burst a bubble but you are going to need adjustable arms with 6.5" coils.

:agree: I was only planning on 4-5", I bought a set of Rusty's springs that the seller said was 5",I knew this to be wrong, but for the price I was willing to take the chance. After some checking they are #808, 6.5 on XJ, 5.5 on TJ/ZJ.

I am looking at a few options, swap/trade someone for 4.5's Buying 4.5's ($99 right now), going to a long arm system, Trimming the coils; both to lower height and to increase spring rate. Thanks for the info  I was aware of the need for arms, I planned on a lower lift to reduce cost. I will most likely buy 4.5's, later go to long arms, and use the 6.5's after I burn through a set of tires.

The lift is a Bend-Pak, they are available through Northern Tool for about $1650, I bought mine at auction for less than a 1/3 of that. It's decent for minor/tire work, but I would hate to work under one every day.

IMHO it is still better than the $2k full rise chinese lifts, something about those things makes me queasy. When given the choice at a former employer, I picked the 30 year old Rotary over a 3 month old chinese lift, in 18 months the chinese one had 3 cylinders, two sets of alignment blocks and a hydraulic pump replaced, I put about 1/2 quart of fluid in the Rotary. A new Rotary would have been about $6k though.
