Scott86mj Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 My brake lights quit working so I tried replacing the stop lamp switch. That did not help. What else could be the problem? No power going to light no matter if the switch is in or out. Thanks for any help in advance.
JOMJ87 Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Check the pedal there is a switch at the top of it that controls the lights mine did it if its messed up just put new connectors on it. Cole
Pete M Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 MJs have a connector in the wire harness just behind the driver's side rear tire. It is notorious for corroding inside and may need to be cleaned or replaced. I had to replace mine in the 88 and found a generic connector at the parts store.
mike Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 also make sure no rodents have climbed up and chewed on the wiring going to the lights, i had that problem with a dakota i had! no only did the dam thing chew through the brake wiring in back but also chewed through some in the engine compartment for the ignition!
