richasco
There are a handful of sensors that could have failed to cause the problem. It's OBD II, so hook up a scanner and let the computer tell you what's wrong.

jeep stuff
does that just happen as your driveing down the road? or can i just hook it up to a switch
Geonovast
CPS is what tells the computer when the pistons are in the right place so it can fire the spark. You can't bypass it, you can't hook it up to a switch. Yes, it can die in the middle of the road like that. Doesn't mean that's what it is, but it could be. kro10000
Had the same issue with my 5.2 dakota, went through a ton of work replacing parts, until in a last ditch effort i replaced the coil... fired right up... replace that first

Crank sensor in a 98 5.2 is a hall effect sensor. would work if submerged in oil. It is also possibly the worst sensor to get at I have ever seen. aemsee
that worked thanks my comanche looks the same as yours what worked? coil, sensor or spraying it with carb cleaner? If it fired up when you sprayed it, it IS going to crap out again.
