taking the bed off

Recommended Posts

I took the bed bolts off also the spare tire carier but what else do i need to do? do i need to drop the gas tank? sorry i seacrched but i counldnt find anything.

drop the gas tank, disconnect the e-brake bracket from the bottom of the bed. if you have a roll bar you will have to unbolt the lower bolts as well.

How many bolts did you remove? There are 8 on my short bed...not sure about LWB.

There is a post on here somewhere that shows all the bolt hole locations. A quick search and you should be able to find it.

When "dropping the gas tank", what's the best way to go about it? Mine has some fuel in it and I was hoping to support it somehow so I wouldn't have to remove the lines and empty the tank. Is this possible? I'm doing this late at night in the snow, cause I'm crazy mad, lol.

well here goes, I'm in an inpatient mood. I've been careful as hell while working on my MJ, it's about time I do something without proper research. I'll be attemping to unbolt the gas tank and see what happens. Hopfully I can support it with something, cause I have no idea about how or if I'm suppose to remove the lines.

You don't have to remove the lines. Just get something under it to support it, undo the straps, and you should be good to go. Just look over it quick and be careful when removing the bed to make sure there's no stupid zip ties or something.
