mjeff87
I spent the weekend back up in PA refinishing all the hardwood floors in my mother's old house, and got caught in the ice storm yesterday morning. Got a couple good pics during the whole mess, and on the way back home after some roads reopened......Bob (Wildman) was supposed to be driving back up to NY from VA, dragging his newest MJ behind his box truck. You OK Wildman???? I was looking for ya along the route back, but must have missed you. Jeff Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found ice fog....... Image Not Found this last one was on I70 outside of Hancock MD.....car hauler with a load of brand new cars flipped over :ack: When I passed it, they had the trailer uprighted and were pulling off all the cars onto flatbeds. EVERY car was smashed..... Image Not Found
87Warrior
Glad you made it OK... Wildman, how about you? The ice looks like the freezing drizzle we had for the past few days. Ice is not joke. We get it regularly in KS. Pic from our last bad freeze, 2007:
HOrnbrod
Looks nasty Jeff. Glad you made it back okay. How about you Bob?
LoTGoD
I talked to Wildman on the phone about 1:00pm yesterday. He was just outside Washington D.C. No report of ice from him at the time. Not sure about anywhere between there and Pittsburgh, but west of there (Ohio) the roads were just wet.
mjeff87
Ice is not joke. You ain't kiddin.....we usually get ice down here in the Richmond area, home (PA) generally gets pounded with snow because it's usually way colder than 32 degrees. The TJ did a pretty good job in it on half tread AT's (and 4HI), but it really doesn't matter what you're driving on ice, you're pretty much at the mercy of gravity and inertia  Bob should have been OK, but I didn't know what time he was leaving VA. If he was in the DC area at 1:00, it was all over by then (except recovering all the wrecked vehicles). Jeff edit: in my 40 years, I've never seen the entire Parkway around da 'burgh shut down..... http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/sli ... etail.html
Wildman
Yea, I made it home last night....late.........didn't see any ice storm on my way thru, but then again, I didn't hit the Pittsburgh area until about 3:30pm, but, I heard about it  All I seen was rain all the way home...........12 hours of rain........I think I wore out the windshield wipers on the van :headpop: Either way.........I don't drive on ice.......learn that many years ago.........taking a full size van down a 6 foot drop, and still landing on all four wheels........right side up too :D When the roads get icy, I park it. Don't matter what you have, getting going is not the problem, it's getting the dang thing stopped that really matters  I didn't see that car hauler wreck, but I did pass a 4-5 car wreck south bound on Rt 70, just north of Rt 270. Kind of interesting when you pass a pile up, and you see the cutting torches sitting in the middle of the road  Glad you made it thru the ice storm Jeff, I guest I just got going too late, which is good, and gladly missed it all ;)

mfpdm
So now that we know you made it ok, post some pic's up of that thing you came all the way down here to get. :D Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet up. But I know you were on a time table. Or, you just didn't want me to see what a good deal I passed up.
Wildman
Hi Don :waving: Yea, I'm back in the snow/cold/rust belt :( mfpdm = not that I didn't want you to see what it was, nor the time table, that got delayed a couple of days any ways  I didn't get down to the VB area until about 5pm on Wednesday, and by the time I found the storage place, and loaded up, it was 8pm back on the road, and didn't hit Richmond until 10pm. Long day too, was on the road since 4:30am :ack: I should have contacted you after I was "talked" into staying a couple extra days. In fact, my sister ended up taking me down to Williamsburg on Saturday to check that out, first time I've ever been there. Any who, had a great trip, didn't end up rushing like I originally planed, and came back with a '91 for the full scale model collection :D I'll take some pictures of the '91 after some of the snow melts around it........I think it's the first time the poor thing has ever seen snow  OH, and got to meet MJeff :D
