aemsee Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 The kind that you use to look for stuff on the ground, not the airport kind :). Looking for info on them. Thinking about getting one for my 13 Y.O. for Christmas. Anyone here use them? What should I look for as far as quality? Like to keep the price under $200 as well. There is some info on the net of course, but I like opinions from people who have actually used different ones. Thanks
Drahcir495 Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 You can't go wrong with the Garrett Ace 250 - easy to use, light, and has a good rep. We have a expensive waterproof Fisher model that I haven't used since picking up the ACE. I got it here -> http://www.kellycodetectors.com/garrett/garrett.htm
aemsee Posted December 8, 2009 Author Posted December 8, 2009 Thanks for the link and opinion. Just ordered one. Came with a bunch of extras as well. He will be happy.
Pete M Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I've purchased 2 in my lifetime. both were bought with specific "lost things" in mind and both were returned soon after buying. :D And no, we didn't find either item. :( Found all sorts of random other things though. Nothing valuable. :( They were fun to use while I had them.
