BIGHEEP Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Does anyone know the lenght of the stock MJ leaf springs (spring eye to spring eye)? Also does anyone know if there are any other vehicles out there that share the same spring lenght?
87manche Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 I've seen some threads about bulding your own leaf springs out of dakota or s-10 packs. I believe you still have to use your MJ main laf though, and rebuild the pack using donor leaves.
DirtyComanche Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 I've heard Ford Explorer... I've not verified this. You can play with your wheelbase if it's not quite right though. Unless you ditch your bed, that'll just be a pain though.
pingpong Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Do you want the measurement straight across eye to eye, or do you want the measurement following the leaf springs? I know XJ leafs are 5" shorter, I also know that Full size chevy leafs will fit :D , just the centering pin is in the wrong spot. Patrick
BIGHEEP Posted November 5, 2005 Author Posted November 5, 2005 I am looking for the lenght eye to eye (point a to B), not following the leaf. I am pretty sure the bed is going to get ditched or altered so the pin location is not going to matter. I am not sure where my MJ build is going to lead me yet, right now I am just doing some research and weighing my options.
pingpong Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 I just measured a set of MJ springs I have behind the shed, and they measurre 52 1/2.
