sinkrun
Ok I have some wobble checked wiggled everything I could think of in the front end. This does not do this all the time and you can drive or brake out of it but it seems to be getting worse. The only thing I found some play in is the control arm bushings mostly side to side. Could this be it or am I missing something. This is a 89 4.0 4x4 automatic 150,000. If so how hard are they to rebuild with poly bushings?
Geonovast
How old are the tires? The most likely cause of DW is out of balance tires.
sinkrun
Tires and rims are about 3 months old it actually wobbled worse with the old tires. I am not a expert on checking front ends I do know a little though think I missed something?
MiNi Beast
yes bushings can cause this and is one of the least places people look. Poly replacements are a minor cost in replacement, but I would suggest rubber if you can. What type of control arms you running? Also check for tierod end play, track bar play at every point, hole can round out some and cause an issue.
CWLONGSHOT
Poly bushings can be harsh. Do you have a lift? It may be a time to upgrade to new control arms. You will still have to swap out the bushings on the top of your axle as these are in the housing, not the control arms. Another option is to purchase complete new control arms. they are not so expensive and WAY easier than pressing out and pressing in bushings. Again you have to do the bushings on top of the axle. http://www.quadratec.com/products/56015_005.htm http://www.quadratec.com/products/56015_001.htm http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/searc ... rm+bushing http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sku/J ... 6+Steering http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sku/J ... 6+Steering
Pete M
Are you using your hand to check for slop in the front end? Try having someone saw the steering wheel back and forth while you watch the front end parts. It can take a lot more force to see the slop than one can muster with their bare hands. In addition to the bushings, check the condition of your wheel bearings.
sinkrun
Had a helper Do the saw thing and used my hand then we switched and did the same paid special attention to the track bar. One tie rod had a very very small amount of movement could hardly tell. No lift yet some day soon thinking 2 inch I just use it for a light trail driver and work sometimes. I did just do the u joints in the axle and one hub was rough feeling so I replaced one. Now I wish I had done both just to rule it out. The arms are stock and from what I see on CW`s links new is the way to go. So how hard is it to remove the bushing on the axle?

Pete M
If you can find them, WJ front control arms are a good upgrade for a stockish height MJ. They are stronger, curved to allow better tire clearance and will have newer bushings. sinkrun
Does it matter what years?
CWLONGSHOT
If your asking about the WJ years. IIRC, NO it dosen't matter. 1999-2004 is the years the WJ was offered. CW
