Anyone Build an MJ Bed Trailer?

Recommended Posts

Good news is that I found the pics of the Colorado MJ/trailer. Bad news is the pictures won't really help you much since they are CL shots and the guy never did send me better ones. :fs1:

I remember that guy. He was selling the truck and trailer together. Both were oylmpic editions. He also had built anotherone for a guy that ended up not paying or something like that. I think I remember him signing up here.

Found the thread however the pic's are long gone from craigslist. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=12361

I'm building a long bed trailer right now...........

From this pile 'o parts I brought back from Nebraska....

The long bed strapped to the MJ and the frame section wedged under the front of it.........

Has finally been re-united, put the springs and axle under it and rolled it into the garage.....

Cut some excess frame away and prepped it for a trailer conversion.........

Went to a local junk yard and cut this from a boat trailer........

Pics tomorrow of the progress.

If I was to build a trailer I'd go for a long bed. Then I'd build a popup camper to fit on top of it (since wildernest campers are so hard to find) that could be removed when not in use. That way you could take the camper part off when you needed to haul stuff around and slide it on when you wanted to go camping. You could even build a mount on the inside of a tailgate to allow you to attach/remove a step for climbing into it.

Got the tongue fitted and mostly welded in here, looking at spare tire placement and working on wiring.

Finished with the welding. Not my best work...... but it should do. I put bolts in as well - just in case.

And here it is, about as done as it's gonna get. I went to buy new shocks for it..... opened the boxes at the store and both had severe paint peel issues. They didn't have any others available...... They gave 'em to me free! Just gotta finish the spare tire mount and it's done.
