LED tail light housings

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of a company that make after market LED tail light assemblies for an MJ?? I an not beyond making my own, but I'd rather spend the time on other projects if someone already makes them.

There is no "after market" tail lights for the MJ.

The OEM tail lights have not been made since 1992.

But, you might want to PM Cherokee, I do think he just added the LED sockets and bulbs to his tail lights, and I think he used some Chevy socket :dunno:

I know it may not be the same thing that you want but auto zone had LEDs that replace the bulbs in our taillight housings.

Would the LED bulbs that plug in to the original socket cause the signals to flash far more quickly than before due to the lower voltage requirements of the LED vs incandescent? My understanding is resistors required for normal signal function do not usually come with the cheap LEDs at A-Z.

The faster flashing is likely for the reasons you listed. Resistors are NOT recommended as they get really hot and are a fire hazard. LED compatible flashers are available and will likely fix the fast flash problem.
