Darren
I was going to run 1/2" bolts through the the frame for my rear bumper. Are crush sleeves necessary in the rear? I'm I ok without them?
Casper2000
Well iwould think you would bo okay w/o but what would it hurt if you put them in anyway :dunno:
DirtyComanche
You're probably not going to make the recommended torque for a 1/2" bolt without them. But that will all depend on the exact design of your bumper. In general, if you can put a sleeve in, you should.
Eagle
IMHO you will never be able to tighten a through bolt without a sleeve. Why do you think the factory used weld nuts?
reson46
Sleeves would be a good idea if you can incorporate them into your design. I copied the TNT belly pan sleeves for each mounting foot of my rock sliders. I think you could probably do something similar for your bumper. Take a lighter piece of steel, drill to match the holes, insert inside frame to be sure of clearances and weld nuts on it.... But crush sleeves or complete tubed bungs would be stronger. I am doing something similar on mine. I just need to visualize my forward mounting flange. (Just behind rear wheels. I need to be able to jack off this AND still easily remove it. I think I know what I'll do, but as I do it we will see what happens... :dunno:  CW
