ORCA
I've got a borla header from a 95 w/ O2 sensor and I wanna put it in my 88 MJ. Was wondering if there were any major differences in the two year periods? I realize that i'll cross that bridge when i get there, but i thought i'd ask anyway. FYI: The 95 engine doesnt have a vacuum system and runs on an open cooling system, which probably has no affect on the header. DirtyComanche
Yeah, they redesigned the HO head, and put the ports in the wrong place. I think you can still bolt it up though. It's either the header or the manifold that doesn't work.
Cabz
Yeah, they redesigned the HO head, and put the ports in the wrong place. I think you can still bolt it up though. It's either the header or the manifold that doesn't work. It's the intake ports manifold that are diffrent on the HO's. The header will bolt up but, there will not be a provision for the EGR cross over tube so you will have to block the opening in the bottom of the intake when you pull the EGR tube off. Also you have to use the 88 O2 sensor , the 92 sensor works diffrently . You might want to check the threading on the O2 sensor bungs to make sure they have the same thread pitch . Hope this helps :D

pingpong
depends if your state has emission testing :brows:
Bounty Hunter
Throw a HO head on while you're at it. Then consider a '99+ intake manifold for the best flow.

87manche
true, but it will likely fail any kind of visual test.

ORCA
Good to know. Thanks for all the replies. I would like to swap in a 99+ intake, but moneys tight - we'll see.

( FL has no inspections in my part of the state :D ) I've got no inspections here as we're rural farming, no idea if they inspect the bottom, but I imagine that since the EGR is primarily for emmisions control that they would inspect that part specifically. yj2mj
The bottom of the header, where the down pipe bolts up is also different.
