90eliminator
So my parts store of preference is Advance Auto Parts, I find their product much better then Autozone and cheaper then O reillys. These are the only real stores in my area.... So a while back I set up a commercial account. This is just an account that allows you to track your purchases like any repair shop would do. I was about to start a big project so the bonus is that is also comes with a % off. This changes based on the amount that you purchase, except here's the kicker... The first month you open it, your discount is the highest that it can be at, till the next month then it is based off your purchase history... (I am almost positive that is how the guy explained it to me) So if you are about to start a project, go set yourself up a commercial account, then make all your purchases, the savings will be awesome, especially right now in this economy. It does not help to anything in the front aisles of the stores, mostly parts, alt, rads, engine parts....stuff like that... Have fun, and good luck.... wolfpackjeeper
when I worked there the discount was on everything, unless your corporate account locked items. Another plus is that commercial accounts get huge discounts on some common parts. When I worked there the commercial price for any shop on any amount of spending on CV axles was $35, they usually run $65. There is also a commercial buy of the month and they can get some crazy discounts on other stuff as well. Whatever you do, do not go in there and swagger, talking about your account and how you get an auto discount, the parts guy will just mess with you, and you look like a tool. mfpdm
you look like a tool. Like this :wrench: j/k  I wonder if Advance will give the military discount on top of the corporate thing? Probably not I guess. I really like the fact that they give 10% for active or retired military.

Couple grand a week minimum. And the military discount is a new thing. They did not use to do it at all. If we did it it was because the individual team member thought it was worth their job to risk it. Granted, I knew that company needed me more than I needed them so I gave it a lot, firemen and cops too.
BLHTAZ
Don't you need a business license or a resale tax certificate to prove that you own a business to set up an account like that. I know at every place I have worked we required proof of a legal and existing automotive repair business before we would allow a wholesale account to be set up. That is what I would think, working in construction suppliers what proof. Some of the suppliers have signs on the door, business accounts only! wolfpackjeeper
nope, it is only a few keystrokes in the computer. Anyone who bought a motor or tranny got one to try and help the sale. If you want to make it tax free you have to bring in the documentation, but other than that any assistant manager can set it up. The NCSU zoology had an account, as well as the Fire Dept, Engineering Dept at school, and a group of students that called ourselves wolfpack automotive. CEThomas
Wonder if Auto Zone and O Reillys has the same thing :???: I shop on line and check the price and go to who has the best price as all 3 are within a block of each other ;) But would like to get all my stuff from one place, and the guys at O Relliys are better then the gals at Auto Zone and Advance that can never answer a question and like to say " check with the dealer"
