james750
Will a SUA YJ rear axle bolt up to the MJ? If not can I use shims to adjust the pinion angle enough to make it workor do I have to get the mounts cut/re-welded? Are the leaf packs the same width? Shock mounts? Geonovast
I don't know about pinion angle, but I'm pretty sure the distance between the perches is different. The physical width of the axle is the same though.
james750
Ok, so I would have to get the perches cut/welded. The reason I ask is that my D30 has bad bearings and I am trying to use the opportunity to upgrade from the 3.07 gears that I have. :ack: I would like to put an 8.25 or 44 with 4.10s in the rear and a vac disco 30 with 4.10s in the front and wanted to know if the parts from a YJ would work. BLHTAZ
Yea, the rear axle will not be a big deal...just move the perches to the right place. A YJ front axle will be a big PITA though as you will have to cut the perches off, find coil buckets and control arm brackets to weld on etc, etc... You really should find a front from an XJ and get the newer style that does not have the vac disconnect.
james750
Yeah, definitely going to an XJ front. The reason why I want vac disco is because I made my own posi lok for it over the summer and use it all the time for 2lo. ;)
CWLONGSHOT
Something your missing... (Or I am)the YJ had D35 Rear axles. WHY go to all this trouble for s D35????? Â I could see getting another D35 that was a drop in for a short term solution.. but if your going to the trouble of welding and such. Just do it right the first time... mvusse
That's what had me confused. He's wanting a 8.25 or D44, but YJs had neither of those.
Eagle
Gents, I share your confusion. There seems to be a step missing here ...
james750
I thought that YJ's had 8.25s and 44s as options for the rear. I guess that it doesn't matter now b/c I am NOT going to replace my 35 with another 35. I guess that it will have to come from an XJ.
Eagle
The TJ could be had with a D44 as an option. But that's set up for coil springs, so you'd still have to weld on perches.
