Will have to say I did not see this one coming.

Makes good sense.

Fiat makes economical cars but no trucks or 4WDs (AFAIK), wants back in to the US market, and needs a dealer/distribution network.

Chrysler has some good trucks and 4WDs, but nada for cars (and I've owned a couple, so I know).

Marriage made in heaven.

Only problem is everyone will think of the Fiat's of the 70's and 80's. Sure hope things would be better then back then. No matter I was about 10 min away from driving off with a new X 1/9 :D and wish I had did over the MG I did buy

Actually Fiat owns Iveco trucks. Plenty of them in the US.

Thanks. I didn't know that. Do they have consumer trucks in addition to commercial?

Yes, they are called Ram and Dakota :rotfl2: Sorry just had to say that :D

Hope it works out, I do like the Linea Diesel they sale :brows: And if they would come back out with a X-1/9

This is like an instant replay of AMC and Renault. All the same reasons. Seriously -- are you going to go to a Jeep dealer to buy a POS Italian econo-box? I mean -- Fiat has been in the American market. There's a REASON they failed here.

Eagle does have a point. But seriously why is American dealers going down that's the question. What is the difference between the japs and American. I swear half of toyotas sales are in Hawaii. But why what makes people so drawn to them. I personally will always buy American. But why won't the rest of the nation, is it the quality, the looks, the resale value, WHAT IS IT!?!

Perhaps, but I understand that Fiat has earned a much better reputation in Europe over the past decade.

Only time will tell if it's a smart play by Fiat, and Chrysler probably doesn't have a long list of suitors waiting in the wings.
