pingpong Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I am going to say NO. Only reason is... I have never known anyone to build one out of 1.5 x 1/8 for a cage. All the cages I have seen have been built out of 1.75 by 1/8.

Motion Offroad Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 DOM is stronger than just a mild steel (welded seam), but as Pat said I'd still go with 1.75". The .120 wall will be fine. Our DOM cages are 1.75" .120 wall; which is what many sanctioned bodies require for DOM cages. Might as well build it to specs for a sanctioned body now even if you don't ever plan on competing; cause if in the future you decide to, it's easier (and cheaper) to have done it right to begin with.
