jeepaholic
I need the plastic that surrounds the headlights and both markers under the headlights..Also the fiberglass header and chrome strip between the header and the grill. Will the cherokee stuff fit? And does anybody have this stuff? I know i ask a lot of questions but this is my first mj build. CJ5 i know... :smart: MJ's I'm learning. mjeff87
everything from the bed forward will swap with a 4 dr XJ, within the same model year range (pre '97), bodywise. Junkyards are your friend. Jeff

Pete M
If you grab the entire fiberglass assembly in front of the hood/fenders, then any year will work. If you only want a few of the pieces, then there were some changes in 91 when Jeep simplified how the parts went together.

Jeff Not exactly. Although they look the same from 10 feet away, Chrysler revised the grille in either 90 or 91 to use fewer parts. On my '88s the trim strip across the header, above the grille, is a separate part, and there are two short sections that go above the headlights that are also separate parts. The newer version incorporates those trim strips into the grille and the headlight bezels. And the header panel itself is also different, to accomodate the different grille. You can certainly use the early parts on a 90s XJ or MJ, or the 90s stuff on the early ones, but to do so you have to get ALL the parts from the same generation. You can't mix and match.
