dakal Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 anyone know the minimum voltage a battery must have for the computer to operate correctly? this is a renix engine. thanks :wall:
dakal Posted December 21, 2008 Author Posted December 21, 2008 from owning a 635bmw for fourteen years, one of the problems i had turned out to be my battery was supplying a voltage that was under the min required for the computer. replaced battery on advice of my mechanic, end of drivability problems. i have drivability problems with my mj, we checked the battery, and it wouldn't charge correctly. i am replacing the battery next week. so, i'm wondering if the batterys voltage was below the min required for the computer to operate correctly. the proof will be when i change the battery and drive it. hoping
Cheech Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 The way I always check my batteries is with a load tester. It seems to be a lie detector for them. It may show 12-13 volts with a multimeter, but hit it with the load tester and it will really drop if its bad. if it holds 9-10 volts under load it should be fine.
Oizarod115 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 it should have 12.5ish with the truck not running, 14ish with the truck running.
garmj Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Voltages should be 12-13v static ,over 10v with a load checker on it ,13.8-14.2 with the engine running.
dakal Posted December 23, 2008 Author Posted December 23, 2008 thanks for all your help. it looks like min voltage should be 11vs. this is the same as my bmw.
