mfpdm
Figured I'd put this here instead of the classifieds. There's a 87 XJ at the pick n pull in VA Beach with a D44 rear with 3.54 gears open carrier. Was going to pull it but I've got too much stuff already in the garage. It won't hang out there long so you might want to jump on it quick.
mjeff87
I could use the short side axleshaft.....what do they charge for just the shaft? Jeff
mfpdm
I could use the short side axleshaft.....what do they charge for just the shaft? Jeff I'm not sure. :dunno: I know the whole axle is $150-160 drum to drum. If it was halfoff day, I would of grabbed it. :D And for a moment, pretend I don't know anything, and tell me which side is the short side. :dunce:

It's a rear so the diff is in the center ;) . I believe that the short side is the right side though as there is a slight offset on the inside of the diff.. I was wondering why Paul asked that!! But, dosent the cover bulge out on the left side, being the ring rides on the left? So wouldnt that be the short side?? :hmm:

mfpdm
Well, actually, I thought because of the offset to one side and the ring on the other, that they balanced out. Learn something new every day. :brows:

If it's a complete axle, I won't be jerk and just pull one shaft....I'll leave it for someone who wants the whole thing. Gonna run down to my 'yard this afternoon and take a look around, haven't been there for awhile.... How often does your 'yard have 1/2 off days? Jeff Well, when I was starting to pull it, a guy walked up and was really wanting it. So I told him he could have it and walked away. He went to get tools and never came back. So much for being nice. I'd be real surprise if it is still there after today. They don't hang around long down here with all the XJers that go there. Anyhow, the PnP usually has a 1/2 off about once a quarter on some holiday weekend. They don't go out of their way to advertise them either. They have been slow on rotating as of late due to the economy and people hanging on to their cars instead of scrapping them.
