f1tbiker6
found a good deal on a dana 30 buts its a disconnect one. i was aiming at getting a non disco, but the guy told me there is a way to shim the housing so that its always engaged. but wouldnt that be bad for when your driving on the streets and turning? i found a trans and tcase, so the axle and drive shafter are all i need to get now. AND this dana 30 has an aussie locker in it.
Pete M
Shimming the CAD to be engaged all the time will make it exactly like a non-CAD axle. Except that you have the smaller 260 U-joints.
f1tbiker6
is there a how to on doing this? how does it not lock the wheels?
redneck23ms
all the disco does is seperate the 2 piece passenger side axleshaft. when it is engaged the front axle acts just like a non-dico axle. the spider gears is what keeps the axles from being locked together while turning etc.
carnuck
I found the vacuum motor for these axles is still available brand new at my work (NAPA)
BLHTAZ
I found the vacuum motor for these axles is still available brand new at my work (NAPA)Not worth the money.Shim the CAD together and leave it...it will not hurt anything. Think about it...the newer Jeeps with the same D30 now have one piece shafts so how could it hurt. The only time that anything "feels" funny is if you have a locker in the front, but it still doesn' hurt it, just make a little difference in the feel of the steering.
