redneck23ms
how far can you trim the rear fenders before the sides seperate fron the inner? anybody have pics of their rear fenders trimmed?
DirtyComanche
Clean up the pinch seam, and look closely at it. You can see the spot welds, they'll be circular dimples/bumps. Cut past those and she'll pop apart.
Eagle
You can't cut much beyond the holes for the flare brackets. I wish someone had expalined that to the doofus who owned my '88 before me ...
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW
Your best bet is to do the "cut and fold" method. You simply make some relief cuts in the metal, and fold it over on itself. This way your not separating the 2 panels and you can get much more clearance this way. I'll try to dig up some pics to show what I'm talking about... redneck23ms
did you ever find the pics of the cut/fold for the rear fenders?
Pete M
I just did something similar to mine. I made a small cut in the corners, and folded the metal over using channel locks and a hammer. Not the cleanest way, but as you can see, there's not much left of the original steel in that area so it doesn't really matter if I smash the paint. redneck23ms
went ahead and cut the reaf fenders today. i cut the lower lip off then did the cut/fold for the rest of it. turned out pretty good except for all of the cancer in that area. i also cut the rear quarter panels at the body line.
