Bought a factory brush guard for my 88 MJ, looks like it bolts right to the factory bumper, however, this would not be very sturdy. Does anyone know for sure how the factory brush guard is installed? Pictures would be fantastic.

Thanks again for your help

Here's the info from the 89 FSM:

The brush guard or maybe "Bull Guard" is a better term that I am talking about, doesn't appear to attach to the frame rails, like in the picture, it appears to attach directly to the bumper, doesn't have any brackets that go underneath at all. The Bull Guard is only about 24" wide, maybe not even that wide.

Thanks again.

Your talking about the after market bull bar, like this-

Which I use for the plow lights.

There are 2 right angle "clips" on each side (total of 4) that bolt to the lower bumper bolts, and 2 near the top of the bumper, where there should be 2 plastic plugs that hold the bull bar in place. This bar just bolts to the bumper, and not to the frame, not real strong, but it holds the lights ;) And there should be 2 "brackets" for fog/driving lights on the bar.

If you need more detail photo's let me know.
