Trac-loc install??

i got a track loc for free, will i NOTICE any difference off-road if i install it or should i not even waste my time instaling it?

 

i don't do any hard rock crawling, mostly classVI roads, mud/water, and mildly rocky roads

You will only fill a difference if it works! But if it does work its just going to make you sick! Why you ask, because you didn’t get one sooner! You don’t have to be some hard core rock crawler to have locking diffs. If I were you I would get started right away!!! Good luck man! :cheers:

its just a limited slip

I put a trac-lock in my Ram and it definitely helps in that type of driving. The truck is our tow vehicle and often gets on sandy soft ground. I definitely noticed a difference in it's ability to get through that stuff. Straight, flat type driving it will be noticeable...off camber stuff will still allow a one wheel issue :cheers: .

Nope...haven't seen much of that since I moved out of PA in 1985. I lived in NC (Raleigh area) for 7 years, so I saw a little there, but you are right about the benefit in snow.

Please tell me this is going into a Dana 44 or 8.25 or 8.8...

Its about the least aggressive out of the limited slips. Its an improvement over open for sure.

Personally I would rebuild it before the install.. There is a reason it was free!!

Roger that. The clutches do wear out, and once they wear out it's just another open diff. The time to rebuild it is when it's already out of the vehicle. Last time I checked the rebuild kit was around $65 ... it's probably closer to $80 by now.

thanks guys, i'm gonna rebuild it before it goes in. had a wheel bearing fail last night anyway so i'll be replacing that this weekend
